MISSION

The Oklahoma Teen Book Convention is dedicated to facilitating and celebrating the love of literature and lifelong learning by providing a multifaceted experience of diverse activities in an inclusive and accepting environment for Oklahoma youth ages 12 to 18.

VISION

To inspire a generation of readers that are enriched and transformed through active engagement in creative reading, writing, and storytelling as a means of self-expression, communication, developing empathy, and well-being; to be the premier literary festival in the state by elevating Oklahoma as a leader in supporting the growing and diversifying publishing industry of young adult literature.

The OKTBC began as an idea in 2013. The first meeting was held in 2014 and the name - Oklahoma Teen Book Con - emerged in 2015. The inaugural event was in Guthrie in the fall of 2017.

The Oklahoma Teen Book Con (OKTBC) is an unincorporated nonprofit association under the nonprofit umbrella sponsorship of the Social Good Fund. The OKTBC is supported by local libraries, grants, vendor sponsorship, and private donations. The team that makes the event happen is comprised completely of volunteers from across the state of Oklahoma.
